So you have heard of the Charles Linden Method and perhaps you are wondering how it actually works to eliminate panic and anxiety and how it is possible that so many people claim its effectiveness.
To understand Linden’s technique we have to first take a quick look at a little about conditioning and what it does to the mind.
Over the past few decades behavioral psychologists from around the world have come to recognize that our brains can become conditioned to respond in a certain way to fear, anxiety and panic. Over a person’s lifetime these responses become so entrenched that they react at a subconscious level to the triggers that bring on panic and anxiety.
Simply put the brain is trained to trigger the body into a state of panic if exposed to a certain stimuli. The way to eliminate panic and anxiety then is to re-train the brain and condition it NOT to react in this way.
This is the basis of the Charles Linden Method.
The most important part is that Charles Linden’s technique does not require the use of drugs to produce curative results.
The best way to explain how it does work is to use an analogy of a leaking roof. Here are the various solutions to the water leak and how they relate to panic and anxiety treatments.
- You leave the roof as is. This would be the equivalent of conceding to the anxiety and trying to just live with it.
- To fix the leak you might consider thickening the water in order to slow it down. This would be the equivalent of using prescription drugs in order to eliminate the panic. On a side note, ironically, thickening water would seem ludicrous to most people!
- You find a temporary fix to plug up the hole. This would be the equivalent of therapy which really is only a band-aid approach to a solution.
- You get in a handyman to fix the hole thereby eliminating the problem completely. This is the Linden Method approach.
In a nutshell the idea is simply to replace anxious neural pathways in the brain with non anxious ones.
The Charles Linden Method teaches you how to do this in the fastest and most effective way possible in order to rid yourself of panic for good.
Look it’s not going to work for everyone all of the time and people have certainly found solutions to their anxiety and panic using other methods but the fact is I have not found any type of therapy or prescription drug which can boast the same success rate. Period.
